Loving Discipline Home Course

The Art and Science of Raising Emotionally Intelligent, Self-Disciplined, and Resilient Children

You know what you don’t want. The old authoritarian methods of harshness, control, and punishments have been tried and science and experience clearly show they don’t work.

But in reaction to authoritarianism, many loving families like yours have tried to simply provide a safe and loving environment and have assumed that kids will naturally become respectful and responsible on their own. But here again the research and experience are clear: permissiveness does not work either.

“Discipline is the obligation of relationship.” — Frank Marrero

It’s Easier to Listen Than it is to Read

Let’s be honest — it is hard to find the time, energy, and focus to read these days. That is why I made this course in an easy-to-listen-to mp3 audio format. This format will allow you to play it on virtually any medium: your computer, ipod, smart phone, or CD player.

Learn the 5 major styles of discipline during your morning walk or run. Get the quick summary on discipline research while on your morning commute. Discover the downsides of “carrots and sticks” on your car CD player while your kids nap peacefully in the back seat. In my experience, audio is the way to go.

But the Loving Discipline ebook is also yours if you prefer to read. The ebook is a succinct version of the audio course, complete with charts and images — sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words!

This Course Will Save You a Ton of Money

I used to try to explain all of the Loving Discipline concepts to my coaching clients over several weeks until I realized that there was a more cost-effective and efficient way to help them. To cover all 9-plus hours contained in this course, it would cost nearly $1000 dollars. Then I found the better way: Buy the Loving Discipline Home Course, listen to it on your own time, and then contact me for a Parent Coaching if you still have any questions left unanswered.

The price difference: You save over $900!

What could you do with that money? Take a little vacation? Spend a weekend at a B&B reconnecting with your partner? Pay someone to take the kids one morning a week so you can sleep in, and wake up slowly in a quiet, empty house???

“I felt like I was one of those lucky people who got the chance to sit in a small group with a teacher that soon would be only able to be seen in rooms of 500 or more.” Heather, LCSW and mother of two

This Home Course is informative, efficient, and packed with value. (So much so you have my 100% money back guarantee. No like, no pay. It’s that simple.)

I am so convinced that this will be valuable for you that I will give you your money back if you don’t find it helpful. No questions asked.

Why I Created Loving Discipline

daddy_bodhiWhen I first started to look at the literature on discipline, I was amazed at how cacophonous and contradictory it all seemed. The advice is all over the map!

And all too often these books would provide short formulaic approaches such as “when your child does x, do y, and the result will be z.” I am sorry to say, human beings are just not that simple. In relationships, context is everything.

So I set about making sense of the apparent contradictions. Through my 15 years of experience as a pediatrician, 5 years as a life coach, and most importantly in becoming a father to my two boys, Kai and Bodhi, I began to see how the pieces fit together. I finally realized that children need a whole variety of experiences to grow into their full potential. To grow up whole, authentic, and self-disciplined kids need 5 essential elements of relational nourishment: unconditional love, space, mentorship, healthy boundaries, and mis-takes.

I began to see that there are a whole variety of responses to choose from in any given moment that will help create harmony in the home and nourish your child’s developing brain toward becoming self-disciplined. My wife and I began to play with the many different responses that we realized were available to us and were amazed to find them both effective and very satisfying. Now I want to share these insights and tools with you.

But this course is not for everyone.

If you are looking for black and white prescriptions, this course is not for you. I will instead provide you with a full 360 degree view of what your child needs over their days and years. And you will have to use your own intuition about what form of nourishment is needed in any given moment.

This course is not dogmatic and rigid, but flexible and pragmatic.  For example, I will teach you about the downsides of “carrots and sticks” as a primary means of discipline. But I will also show you how you can use natural and logical consequences — when necessary and appropriate — in a way that is not harmful to your child’s long-term development.

I will show you that kids are indeed perfect as they are, and simultaneously have a long way to go on the road to becoming fully themselves. I will show you how these two truths are not contradictory and how you can interact with your kids in a way that they retain a basic trust in life, a sense of their inherent value as a person, and still desire to become more respectful, responsible, and competent in the ways of the world.

I will also teach you that tears are not only a part of life, but actually are essential to becoming adaptable and resilient. I will show you how to set limits in a way that is firm and loving, and will bring you and your child closer together rather than driving you apart. Tears are how we transform into emotionally intelligent and resilient beings.

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief…and of unspeakable love.” Washington Irving
